It all began with leather

165 years ago, company founder Jakob Roeckl introduced a new tanning process that produced a much softer leather. This innovation laid the foundations to the continuing success of Roeckl. Today the company is not only market leader in high-quality leather gloves, but also in sports gloves.

The success story of the riding glove also began with exceptionally soft tanned leather. However, in the course of the years, the supremacy of leather was replaced by highly functional textiles, Light and Grip and Micro Air that Roeckl use exclusively by Roeckl. The reasons are, the manifoldadvantages of the new materials: machine washability, improved breathability and more elasticity. Together, this adds up to the perfect fitting riding glove. Still, Roeckl riding gloves made of real leather continue to be the first choice for a large number of riders, because the leather looks so elegant and feels marvelous.

Today, 165 year after Jakob Roeckl introduced his innovative tanning process, we are proud to announce yet another ground breaking innovation: a textile leather which is indistinguishable from high grade Nappa leather even by experts. This wonderful new material that we call Finesse, offers all the advantages of synthetic functional textiles: it is machine washable, very elastic and exremely breathable.
