Exciting Week Planned for the Washington International Horse Show

Tuesday 21st October 2014

Last year the Shetland Pony Steeplechase presented by Charles Owen debuted at the Washington International Horse Show with immense success and so Charles Owen was delighted to return as presenting sponsor for the entire series in 2014.

The first leg in the 2014 WIHS Shetland Pony Steeplechase Championship Series presented by Charles Owen was held at the historic Devon Horse Show on May 26 in the Dixon Oval. The ponies then headed to the Central Park Horse Show in mid-September before setting their sites on the Series Final at the WIHS. The Races will take center stage at the Verizon Center on Thursday, October 23 and Saturday, October 25.

Charles Owen and Dover Saddlery are running a promotion at the Dover Chantilly, Crofton, and Hunt Valley Stores where customers can take home tickets to the Washington International Horse Show with every purchase of a Charles Owen helmet. If you are in the market for a new helmet now is a great time to buy one!

In addition to the Shetland Pony Steeplechase races, Charles Owen will be hosting an autograph signing with Beezie Madden on Thursday night in the Dover Saddlery booth at the Verizon Center. While in the Dover booth, visitors can take the opportunity to be fitted for a Charles Owen helmet of their own and even have their picture taken in a cutout of a rider.

"The Washington International Horse Show does a fabulous job bringing riders together in the heart of the U.S. Capitol and Charles Owen is delighted to be a part," said Roy Burek, Managing Director of Charles Owen. "Sponsoring the Shetland Pony Steeplechase is a fun way to give future jockeys a safe start to their riding careers. I look forward to cheering all of the competitors on throughout the week."
